The LAUGESEN brand is a democratic brand of high-concept tailoring signature wardrobe designed for everyday usage.
The new focussed LAUGESEN brand, launched by award-winning Creative Director Jens Laugesen, is transforming the eponymous //JENS_LAUGESEN brand into a 21st-century modern wardrobe focussed collection.
Instead of focusing on the persona of the designer, the new brand will focus on the manifesto creative methodology and hybrid design thinking, resulting in a subtle re-design of signature archetype concept pieces, like the trench coat, tailored flap jacket, slit tailored pants alongside hybrid trench/shirt/t-shirts/sweat/hoodies.
Jens Laugesen is an award-winning fashion designer / creative director with a strong international designer profile. Initially trained in Haute Couture at Chambre Syndicale de la Couture in Paris, he holds two master’s degrees in fashion management from INSTITUT FRANCAIS DE LA MODE in Paris and MA in Womenswear from UAL CENTRAL SAINT MARTINS in London.
After launching the award-winning eponymous brand in London Fashion Week, he went on to win multiple awards, including New Generation and BFC Fashion Forward awards in London Fashion Week, Designer of the Year in Denmark and the coveted LVMH Prize at the ANDAM Award in Paris as the first UK based designer.
His eponymous brand was scouted by Rei Kawabuko for Doverstreet Market and selected by curator Judith Clark for the Anna Piaggi V&A retrospective exhibition. His conceptual hybrid design is also featured in the permanent collection of FIT FASHION INSTITUTE MUSEUM Museum, New York, VICTORIA & ALBERT London, MAD MUSEE DES ARTS DECORATIFS Paris and DESIGN MUSEUM DENMARK in Copenhagen.
Since putting the brand on hold in 2008, he has collaborated as a design consultant and creative director with international luxury and RTW brands, including CALVIN KLEIN, J. MENDEL, LG FASHION CORP, and NET-A-PORTER YOOX, SPIEWAK and TOPSHOP.
/ / FUTURE CLASSICS - In the hands of today’s designers, wardrobe staples like the trench, the loafer, the blazer are getting a radical 21st century makeover… Never having been the kind of designer who floats from one inspiration to another, Laugesen has a more thoughtful methodology that embraces the slow-burn evolution of honing a signature to create your own vocabulary of new classics / /
